At Sandy Hills. we have created a place that offers horses not only year round turnout but also an environment that enriches their lives, stimulating body and mind. A place so interesting and diverse, a place that wants to be explored every day.

Since opening in April 2024, we welcomed over 20 horses and ponies with individual characters and needs. After successful careers, many years of loyal service, giving us humans all they can, eventually the time comes when we realise that our beloved pets have reached their limits. 

With our expertise, patience and understanding, we've successfully transitioned those horses to track system herd life, after many years in traditional, strictly confined set-ups. Many of which have been emotionally shut down, and after given the time they need, which differs from individual to individual, they now truly thrive. We accept them the way the are, with no expectations and no pressure.

 We see horses spirits wake up, truly blossoming and coming to life.

We see many horses arriving to us sleep deprived. Here they feel at peace to let go and have a good snooze. 

''I've never seen my horse dream before, never slept much in the stable.'' 

We see stiff, arthritic horse loosen up and play, run, buck and rear. 

''I haven't seen my horse move like that in many years!''

We see horses falling in love with their friends who have previously known to be grumpy/mare-ish.

At Sandy Hills we focus on their happiness and health and pride ourselves on PRO HORSE care and welfare. We strongly believe horses deserve freedom to exercise and socialise at free will. They deserve to follow their instincts, to browse and forage. Horses at Sandy Hills simply get to be horses. After all they've done for us, that's the least we can do for them.
